Another week another email! Time is flying! This week has been super duper! I'll start with the highlight because WOW! So Elder HOLLAND came to speak to us for our Tuesday devotional, and I can say that my perspective of missionary work has changed. I wish I had my note book to say exactly what he said but I'll paraphrase it: "All good things that happened in my life came from my mission" he said that you CANNOT waste the Lords time. The church needs you for the full 18 months or 24 months! You are on his errand and you may not waste time. He expressed his love to us a ton! He spoke with amazing power and conviction. For choir we sang sweet hour of prayer, and I'll be honest my testimony of Joseph Smith has been pretty thin while I've been here but the past weeks with praying to find answers and teaching the restoration, singing that song and hearing Elder Holland speak about Joseph Smith... how can the Book of Mormon NOT be true, everything in our church is centered on the restoration and it all works impreuna( together) -- The thing that stood out to me during the devotional is that i cannot waste time I cannot just lollygag I need be productive for the next 17 months of my life! Romania is just beginning to grow in the church, there's not even a stake in Romania! I just cant wait to get there and soak up every minute I can, even the hard days, I can hardly wait for them! The rest of this week has been good. I have as of today, 5 of my very best friends in the mtc! Church is true, book if blue! Here is cute sister Young headed to Kentucky! The most exciting this the week beside walking out of the temple into a snow storm and getting the cute new Italians in our zone. We went to the outside world for Sora Dahl to get some legit non mtc medicine across the street at the byu health clinic, we felt real cool after doing that. I realized that I am recognized as a missionary ( well duh your a missionary) but seriously its was the coolest feeling. I'm recognized as a representative of Isus Hristos!!! WOWOWOWOWOW
Random things about this week sorta mentioned above -Got the new Italians, they are all the cutest! I wish we had more time to get to know them! -Hermana Farias and Elder bleak came to the mtc and Elder hart left ;,( -It been Christmas take 2 this week here at the mtc -Were flying out straight to Amsterdam on Monday morning then an hour layover there and then straight to Romania! WOW WOW WOW LETS GO ROMANIA!!!!!!!!!!!!! So scared and so excited! Please pray that my luggage will all get to Romania with me! well here I go! Probably wont get an email for a while but just know that I'm trying my best to soak in every moment, I'll send a billion pictures when I get the chance! mtc time flies by!! I can't EVEN WAIT ANYMORE! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I love you all <3 Well this week has sure gone by super fast, we had a lot go on this week so sit down relax and enjoy the show. Saturday is always just one more leap to make it to Sunday, so nothing really important happens Saturday, except we found out that my district is going to start teaching each other lessons as fake investigators. I couldn't think of anyone that i could impersonate so I just did Al Fox, but a mix of me in it. Hopefully it goes well, ha! Sunday: oh my Sunday was great, for choir we sang a really fun song called the missionary melody. The devotional was good! After the devotional we watch movies and the one we watched was super short so we got done around 8:30 and that never happens so we (all the Romanian sisters) had a party! We did charcoal face masks and ate candy, it was great! Ohhh I almost forgot that me and my companions taught relief society and the topic was teach repentance and baptize converts and then the most unexpected visitor came..... THE MISSION PRESIDENTS WIFE!! Sister Martino! wowza that was the crazy coolest thing! Lesson went really really good # BLESSED Monday: We Skyped a Romanian for trc and she was from Moldova, and me and my comps thought she was actually from Moldova but psych! shes living in Orem. I did help her get some good suggestions of scrubs for her husband, so my dubsbuds yoo welcome!;) Tuesday: We had the devotional with one of the seventy and he showed us the coolest thing in the whole world, I actually started crying!>>>>>>> There is book of mormon video coming out September 21st!!!! That going to be a great day for missionaries! After he showed us the video all the missionaries were so excited! During our personal study time we went to see all the murals and wowza they are magnificent! Wednesday: LOVE DAYYYY - we all wore pink so we took a pic with Sora Pruett! We also started teaching each other as investigators and it was actually a very different perspective, which i enjoyed! I saw my cute friend SISTER ZOIE YOUNG but we didn't actually take a pic so hopefully by next week ill see her again!
Thursday: Night class we by so fast!!! So typically everyday we have class right after lunch so 1:30- 4:30 then 45 min for study and then we go to dinner and then back to class. The past few days I have been so dead during class, my eyes have felt like sandpaper and my eyelids at least 10 pounds. Ha! Mission life is the best!! Today we went to the temple again! but out of all the p-days this one has been the most chill and the most relaxing! Elder Dahl is a cowboy at heart and he got his rope in the mail, so he started roping some of the sisters, very nice and gently but it was the funniest thing! We also got our flight plans! 10 DAYS 10 DAYS TILL I'M IN ROMANIA!!!!!!!! Our super cute teacher Sora Pruett showed us the cute old people in Romania and it made me more and more excited. As of right now i'm not nervous, I just cant wait to get there and creste spiritual! (grow spiritually) I love you all! Here's to the 2nd to last p-day here at the mtc! So to explain the title, Monday afternoon for lunch I decided to eat a chicken sandwich which was good for the first bite then the second bite was not very good. I was pretty much scared for life. RAW CHICKEN!!!! What the what!! I said after the trauma event "I am never eating chicken here again" but then God knows me so well that we had chick-fil-a for dinner so I had to give in. ANYTHING for chick-fil- a amiright??!?! Tuesday was good, for our devotional we had one of the members of the seventy here and that was pretty cool. All of us Romanians want at least 1 apostle to come before we leave in 2 ish weeks!! Wednesday I hosted new missionaries and I saw a lot of my besties but I only got a pic with one of the coolest! ( ELDER ASHBY) wink wink:) and my old buddy from high school elder barney on the far left! They're companions!!!! Small world! part 2. of look how short Sora Lowther is!
Wednesday we made it to our half way point in the MTC which was weirddddd! Time has gone by so fast! SIDE NOTE: I need some help with a mission scripture! I have a few in mind but none of them have really struck me, so if any ideas pop out, send em my wayyyyy! On Thursday we committed one of our teacher "investigators" to commit to baptism and we were not planning on that at all, its crazy how the spirit was so strong in that room, I even shed a tear! I have also learned that teaching by the spirit it the coolest thing, I really felt it the other day and I felt so confident speaking my broken Romanian The Romanian is coming along a lot better! I have felt so good about teaching by my mind and not by a script of what to say to go along with the lesson. I can pray and bear testimony in Romanian without any help!!!!! Another side note: For those of you who haven't heard, my mission (Romania/Moldova Mission) is getting split, Romania is going with Hungary and Moldova is going with Ukraine. all of us here are just hoping we don't have to learn Hungarian:/// SHOUT OUT to my ward homies: I haven't been able to read the valentine cards yet but I seriously wanted to shout for joy when I got them today! I love you all so much! OHHH Sunday we had fast Sunday which wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be (not eating food from 6pm Saturday night - Sunday night 5:15) We were for sure spiritually uplifted during church and the 2 devotionals we had, one of the devotionals was a missionary devotional which wasn't too fancy then the second one was Noteworthy (BYU women's acapella group) was sooooo goood! They sang some really good songs and shared some really good insight. Also it was nice to listen to some good music for once in 3 weeks! This is my testimony in Romanian - Romanian has accents on words and I have no idea how to do that so .... eu cred ca isus hristos estes multe important si dumnezeu este salvatorul panamant! Eu stiu ca cartea lui mormon este baza cu marturis mea in numele lui isus hristos amin (some things might be spelled wrong) I challenge you all this week to, when your reading scriptures, to find some sort of connection to love in each verse! Welllllp I hope you all have such a good week! Thanks for all the love as always <3 -Sora Whitney Lowther I promised myself that I would write a really detailed email so..... buckle up every one! SATURDAY: It was a super chill day but usually during our night class is when we get super stressed so, Sora Wallace popped some popcorn and we all felt better. But Saturday we had a good chunk of time for personal study so # BLESSED! SUNDAY: Although we don't get to take naps I feel so relaxed and its just so amazing. Every week we have to write a talk, then during the intro to the rest of sacrament they call people up to give a talk. Sora Dahl, and Anziano Grover spoke about baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost, both were so good! MONDAY: It was a good day for a Monday. We didn't have any lessons to teach but we were planning out our trc lesson. TRC: a lesson/ visiting teaching kind of things that we teach to members that have served in our mission. We were kind of stuck on what to teach them cause we only had a short amount of time and no idea who these members were. During our night class we have instrucii, our teachers help us with lessons or our language goals for that week. My companions and I had a hard time thinking of something that could do to help the members come unto Christ. Our one teacher Fratele Brundage was talking to us and (not in a rude way) but it FELT like we were in the refiners fire already. And it just was awful, I think we all wanted to cry that night but we were strong! TUESDAY: We had our trc lesson and we just made a consecutive decision that we were going to teach purely by the spirit, which is good but were never doing that again. We had nothing really set in stone, so it wasn't the most effective lesson my companions and I have taught. That night we had our devotional with Elder Nielson who is over the missionary department. He showed a lot of videos but one of them is very exclusive, its only shown in the David Whitmer home, but since he's so cool he showed us! Seriously the coolest video, I had the chills the whole time!!! After Tuesday's devotional we get to watch past devotional videos and my district all decided to watch Elder Holland and WOWOWOW I took a whole page of notes ha! WEDNESDAY: Particularly my fav day because we got to host new missionaries and I got to see all my cute friends that all came in! Here's a picture series of how short Whitney is. The first one is my old homie Elder Weber from high school, second pic is one of my guy friends Elder Hart, and the last is Elder Warnock. THURSDAY: We had service and a workshop and had to translate our own summary of the plan of salvation in Romanian and only 1 hour to plan 2 lessons. #MISSIONLIFE #AINTNOBODYGOTTIMEFORTHAT We were all so stressed, but we got through it!! After our second lesson with our teacher investigator, we were not prepared, so we just were talking about so many random things then at the end I just committed her to do 3 things! It was just so funny and my companions and I just laughed for a solid 10 min after cause it was just so awful!!! HA! TODAY (Friday): Woke up at the butt crack of dawn( oops idk if i can say that but yeah...) we woke up at 6:00 to get laundry done and then have breakfast and head to the temple. The temple is just so peaceful we all tend to close our eyes for part of the session oops! Its always so cool to go to the temple as a missionary because you don't have your name tag on and your just there to enjoy time to think and reflect. But don't get that wrong putting my name tag on everyday is my favorite part of the day! besides food;) RANDOM THINGS THIS WEEK: -Found out I get to host next week as well SO stoked! -I saw one of my friends from preschool- Darcie Hawks heading to France! -Sora Pond said that Romania is a hidden gem and that's what my little sister called my mission ;) -I keep leaving my loufa in the shower -We had a total of 8 lessons so far this week -I was called to be an online coordinator this past Sunday for my district -(this was last week but) we meet a missionary going to Romanian/ Moldova speaking Russian! -So my arvo watch I had broke last week and Elder Dahl tried to fix it but he broke it even more YOLO Look up 3 Nephi 13:8 During a little study break my companions and I talked about incorporating Romania into our kids names like roman, or a word in Romanian that sounds cool If you don't already know my mission boundaries are changing, we don't know anything yet so hopefully they tell us here before they tell the world. Anyways i'll send a separate email for other pictures but this week was better than last! I feel better about the language. Thanks for all the love and support! Te Iubesc |
