welp this last Saturday we had 2 baptisms in our branch here in Brasov! literally died and went to heaven! we as a branch prayed for a family to find and that they would accept the gospel. we made cute little flyers and announced in every week! it was so dope. we didn't find exactly what we were looking for, but we found the best two newest additions to our branch!! we found gods will and we worked hard and something happened! and it was even cooler that the 2 botezuri were in the month of July! the branch was so excited and i think we united the branch more with the baptism and WOWOWOOWOWOWOWOWOOWOWOWOOWOWOWOOWOWOWOWOOWOW literally so stoked for the growth that's happening here! BISERICA ESTE ADEVARAT! its bianca and george, just some people that were found on the street, that because a miracle for our branch! PS: Romanians don't smile so that's why some of these pictures people don't look happy but promise me that we were all so full of happiness on Saturday! this week i felt so blessed to be here in Brasov, and to be here with the surorile that i'm serving with! we've been doing are best at working with members and helping come to church and to serve them more and to help our investigators to come close to isus hristos!
we had a lesson this week with one of our investigators named cristi, hes like 50 years old and he loves the bible and he loves drinking. we've been able to have a good relationship with him and he feels like were good friends and that were his daughters. hes got kids but they live in England with his ex wife. hes started drinking since the divorce and now its a way for him to be able to numb the pain of the divorce. we talked to him about faith this week in our lesson, he has big faith but he doesn't have a desire to change his thoughts or his behavior to stop drinking. he knows that this church is true and he wants to come to church and be apart of it all but his desires are all mixed up. i love missionary work cause i learn along the way HA a win win situation! the thing i gained a testimony of this week: first we got to have enough faith in the savior to help us overcome the temptations of life and second we got to have the desire to change and have a new view of god and of ourselves. amin! last pday: we went to busteni, its part of the Transylvanian alps and at the top of the mountain is a big cross, so we went up to it. we actually didn't get to the cross cause we didn't have enough time to hike to it but we did get to the top( which is like 2 times higher than Utah mountains) and it was the coolest thing i felt like i was in the sound of music, Ireland, and some random field in the middle of know where! ha

this translation will be weird on google translate but its also because its one of my language mistakes.... once upon a time i was saying the night prayer and i wanted to say to "work hard" but i said to "eat hard" so now its a joke in our companionship to do everything "din greu" or in other words "hard" its literally so funny! you just gotta be here to see it... lol I HIT MY 6 MONTH MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! literally felt so blessed to hit my 6 month mark. i have felt such a change in myself and a change in my language and basically everything else. im so grateful that i have been able to feel the progress as a missionary and as a normal person. changing is hard but it feels so good in the end. literally stoked on life right now! last pday we went to crizbav which is a city outside of brasov to visit our cute friend monika. shes going to get baptized in October and she is just like our mom here. in fact we call her momma monika. shes literally so cute! his week we went to bucuresti for a zone conference and it was so much fun! i saw my cute mtc comp sora dahl, literally a giant but shes the best person and shes killing it in iasi so shout out! this week was so good! i had a lot of time to reflect on what i have become as a person and a missionary. zone conference answered my prayers and over all this week was so much fun! have a great week everybody! cu drag
sora lowther scary title but just wait
this week was a really good one! i learned this week that Satan is in control of a lot, all the bad things are because of him he is the person that makes us have the doubt and the darkness inside of us, and he makes us think that we are worthless and that we haven't progressed even a lil bit but i've realized this week that we need to find the light. its like a life or death situation! but i have realized this week that finding the light in all things, finding love for something or someone, making sure that your doing all you can, looking for the hand of god in your life every single moment, making your prayers like a conversation to you father here on earth, making a effort to try your best, and i could keep writing more examples but i know that with god EVERYTHING is better! life is easier and life is worth living, you feel more happiness in your life! god is great! i love being apart of his team and sharing the gospel every day! satana makes our investigators fall of the face of the planet so thats why i dont like him... this week we did the normal things, we met with this dude from america that my dad met before he came to romania, hes like the coolest! hes acts half romanian and america, basically what im going to be like when i get home! ahahahah THIS WEEK I HIT MY 6 MONTH MARK! i cannot believe it! nu pots sa cred nimic! ive come a long way and i still got a long way to go but i love the person im becoming! cu drag sora lowther here's the Dracula castle pics! On a Saturday afternoon I received a text from a woman who is visiting Romania and she sent a picture of the sisters who were attending a baptism in Bucharest. She said " Hi my name is Kate Johnson and I met your wonderful daughter in Bucharest today at baptism. I was a missionary in Romania in 1994 and am back visiting with my family. She is a great missionary and is doing super. She sends her love!"
Such a tender mercy that people are willing to reach out to the parents of missionaries and take the time to send a picture to the families at home. July 9, 2018 wow we had a legit american party this week for the fourth of July! it was so dope! this lady is literally so funny! she's in our English class and she thinks she runs the place lol
this was at the bbq in her american bandana and her flag she brought! HA for the bbq we made real american hamburgers and bought stuff from the "american section"in the grocery store! it was super lit! we had a lot of people and we had a dance party! all of us americans sang the national anthem and it felt so weird to sing that song across the whole world! we did show off our efy/stake dance/ highschool dance moves! it was so much fun! this week we had a lot of lessons but i still felt like we didn't meet up with anybody this week! its hard cause the people that we want to meet up with aka our progressing investigators can't ever meet up! at least were getting a lot of new potential investigators which is always good! update on the girl with a baptismal date! renada: she had to move out of her college dorm and move back to her house in another little city, which is 2 hours away from brasov! she hasn't been responding to us either, so currently were not so sure what to do except wait and keep trying! keep your fingers crossed! this week we did another English fast which is always a bonus! i feel like i've advanced so much in my language from being here in brasov which has been a blessing! last but not least this week i blew the electricity in our apartment! it wasn't funny at first to me at least, but now it is... i was trying to blow dry my hair with a blow dryer from america with a converter and it was to high of pressure and bam the lights went out and we didn't have power for the whole day, then it got fixed that night, thank goodness! vai! #missionmemories well i hope you all had a great fourth of july! stay tuned next week for pictures from braun castle aka draculas castle! cu drag sora lowther! A sweet surprise of a traveler in Romania that sent a picture of Sora Lowther in Brasov street contacting with a member of the branch there. They said " Met your daughter while on my travels thought i'd share :) She is good! and she says happy birthday from her tomorrow." they are from Arizona.
That was a great birthday shout out from Romania! July 2, 2018
as of the first of this month i'm now in the Hungary Romanian mission! super ciodat!! our mission president is now living in hungary and we basically have to fend for ourselves this transfer( which is 7 weeks long btw) cause our AP's and office elders will not be in romania, YEET! anyways... this week was great i'm now in a trio with sora selander( colega mea transfer trecut) and we added on sora quigley to the companionship! its been a little different being with 3, i haven't been a trio since the MTC, its a lot different in the field but were making it work! so this week investigators wise we set a baptismal date with this girl names renada! shes about 22 years old, currently working on her masters degree, she started learning Romanian 2 years ago and shes basically fluent! we met up with her a few weeks ago and shes been taking test so we haven't been able to meet up frequently but we did last week! she understands the restoration and the authority of the priesthood(!!!!!!) i think that if she continues to fight the adversary, and continues to understand and learn more she will be baptized this month! man that will be a blessing for our branch here in Brasov! we are in need of a baptism and a family and just more oameni in general! ha! she was super cute and gave us bracelets that me sora selander and renada wear! how draguți! we had dinner with a member from america this week! shes super cute and shes only here for a few months but she treated us to dinner. we went inside the black church with here which is a big catholic church here in the center of Brasov! it was super cool! anyways we got dinner and then we sat and talked for 2 hours about how married life is and how she met her husband from Sweden! it was really long but it was actually really great! ha! this transfer my theme scripture is psalms 27:1 " the lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall i fear? the lord is the strength or my life: of whom shall i be afraid?" being close to my 6 month mark and being in a trio and wanting to become better and still learning everyday, the lord is my strength and through him all i can do all things have a great week yall and a great fourth of July!!! sora lowther |
