alo oamen! ce faceti?
this week was perf weather! still trying to get used to the whole humidity thing! lol this week we were finally able to meet up with some awesome people who we met up on the street. we met up with this cute girl named porto but her real name is portocale which mean orange ha! we also met up with this lady who seemed at least in her 30's named ioana and we met up with her again and she brought her daughter but at first didn't look like her daughter it looked like her friends or something but turns out that ioanas " friend" was her daughter! yikkes that was super weirddd my mom sent me a package a little bit ago and inside had a brownie mix. brownies here in Romania are straight up nasty cause they have rom in them and there just so bitter but having american brownies just made that day so much better!!!! shout out to mama mea! funny/embarrassing story: sao once upon a time i was walking to the church with sora sheffield and there's this dog that hang behind this fence and barks everyone and a while, but while we were walking it barked and scared me and the side walks are just not normal here and the dog through me off my groove and am cazut (i fell). and now i have big gnarly scratch on my leg! AH mission mems Iv'e realized this week that Romanian are just that bet people! they accept everyone as they are and they can be friends with a person they met like 10 min ago. i love it here! this is georgeta who is a member in our branch. shes a gypsie. i think she is an incredible person she literally has zero money, her husband is a drunk, and she doesn't work or anything, and they live in a bloc that is paid by the government. all she has is the church shes a person i never thought i would meet but shes been so kind to me and iv'e really been more and more humbled as we've gone to visit her every week. man missions!!

no not real salt lake but romanian sign language, lol i signed to more people in romanian/ american sign language this week. HA this week we had zone conference and it was really good, it really motivated me to become a better missionary, and all the presentations were answers to my prayers! zone conf is always fun cause we have sister come stay with us, and thats always a lot of fun seeing more sisters and getting to know them! I hit my 3 months being a missionary this past week!!!! and then this week i hit 2 months in Romania, now i can start telling people: sunt aici de doua luni! woooh so exciting HA! also also also we had this girl named laura who is 17, she met up with missionaries last summer and had a botez date but she like fell off the face of the planet and then we started meeting up with her again and then she fell off the face of the planet and couldn't ever meet up with us but we were finally able to meet up, and iasked her to be baptized- ha side story so i am about so say the " will you follow the example of jesus christ and be baptised" thing in romanian and right as im about to say it her phone goes off! OF COURSE! and then i go again and then a person walks into the room where we were and then i finally go to say it and she said.... YESSS! whoop whoop! were super excited for her! she just needs to come to slujba! aahhhahahahah that was such a cool experience! this week we took a half pday on wednesday to go inside palas (palatul culturii) it was so pretty! kind of looked like the utah capitol inside! best dang cookie on earth! everyone coming to church ;) our Arabian book or Mormon for our homie omar who works with one of our members! the deaf Romanians!
have a great week! love you all! sora lowther yes i sure did! and it was from an Arabic restaurant too #doublelegit! one of our recent converts mazen works at the resturant names kiwans fast food, and while we were there we talked to all of his co workers bout what we do here as missionaries and we gave out 3 cartea lui mormons!!!!!! # convertkiwans2k18 yes i sure did! and it was from an Arabic restaurant too #doublelegit!
one of our recent converts mazen works at the resturant names kiwans fast food, and while we were there we talked to all of his co workers bout what we do here as missionaries and we gave out 3 cartea lui mormons!!!!!! # convertkiwans2k18 this week Iasi got two new sisters and it has been so much fun having other girls to talk to! i have yet to take a pic with them but i will and maybe just maybe one day ill figure out the picture situation and you'll actually get pictures! ha lol so srry weve done a lot of contacting on the streets lately cause the weather has been so perfect this past week! weve been outside literally all day everyday:) random fact: the way Romanians pay bills is go to an ATM looking thing and scan a paper and pay with cash. man i love Europe! we had a lesson this week with this girl named bianca and she is a super cute girl that's 17. shes already read the entire book or Mormon. she met up with sisters last summer and shes never had an actual lesson so we taught her the restoration and she was super interested, so hopefully things keep progressing with her this next week! shes also a homie to help us out with limba romana! this Sunday was a greeeeaaaattt fast Sunday! all the members here have such strong testimonies all centered on Jesus Christ and i just love church here. being a missionary ROCKS! we also went street boarding this Sunday with the other sisters and i was able to talk to people all by myself and explain the book of Mormon and i felt so cool after doing that. i mean it wasn't perfect and i could have said more but man after we were done with street boarding i felt like i have progressed so much with the language and i was so happy:)))))) this week i've also been talking to people on the phone in Romanian and texting people and man all i can say is shoutout to my DOPE trainer sora sheffield and the good ol gift of tongues (darul limbilor) He hahaha that looks so funny^
This week was really good! The weather had been so so wonderful so that mean that a lot of people were outside! Except on Saturday night... so here in Romania everyone celebrates orthodox Easter which was the recent Sunday and the church service was at midnight so during the day everyone was sleeping so they could go to church at night so Saturday was a boring night ha! We went up to copou park where we had a lesson with a member in our branch, sora ginina, who is super cute but really shy. The copou park has a famous tree there and its written by a man who sat under this linden tree and wrote stuff and now the song is famous. It goes miahe miaho miahe miah ha ha. This week we had a branch activity where we talked about the new Easter video 'mereu langa mine' or the peace in Christ in 'always near me' anyways we had this nasty beef salad thing, oh so nasty and believe it or not i had it 2 more times this week and it got less worse to eat. We were called this week to help this random lady clean her house! Her name was Elena and she was super nice she asked us to clean all her windows and that was an adventure. LIFE TIP: dry your windows with newspaper to get rid of the streak, life changing let me tell yah! For some good food this week: I tried sarmale and if you look it up it looks like some funky chunks of something nasty but trust me ( I'm a picky eater) ITS SO GOOD! it taste just like sloppy joes lol Can you believe I've been out for 1 whole transfer so far? Me neither! We got invited to the Stoica family's house for an Easter dinner and they fed us so much food like a legit 5 course meal! it was nuts! Me and my companion Sora Sheffield and I had a food coma after cause they fed us so much!!!!! Also for brave foods I ate this week; lamb! or meil in Romanian, not bad not bad! This week was really a good week perfect weather and Easter to celebrate! it was all foarte framos! I loved that they talked about the atonement in general conference, I hope to implement it into my life everyday to become closer to my Savior! I love this time of year! Especially in Iasi, Romania!;)))) I love you all have a great week! -Sora Lowther<3 This week went by so fast!
TUESDAY: We went go visit a less active named Sora Anton and she was super cool! The miracle that happened that day was finding her house, she lives sorta out of town and we took a taxi but with only a little bit of cash left from the months budget, but we made it! Shes super good at art and she showed us a lot of her paintings and Sora Sheffield loves to paint so that was cool! Tuesday night we got ready to take a sleeper train to Bucharest later that night. WEDNESDAY: arrived in Buch. at 6:00 am headed to some sisters apartment to all get ready in an hour and headed to the mission home for our 5 week training! The training was awesome and I got to see all my cute mission mtc group! I was so happy to see them! That day we went street singing and then I was "forced" into getting a covrig (pretzel filled with chocolate) BEST one I have eaten so far since i've been here! ha! We kind of just hung around all day and we headed to kfc (the new chickfila) for dinner and then headed to the gara (train station) to sit for 3 hours and wait for our sleeper train back to Iasi. Btw that was the best sleep of my life- well as good as you can get on a train lol! THURSDAY: We got back to Iasi at 5:45 am and then went back to our apartment to sleep for 30min!! We had game night and we weekly planned, pretty typical missionary day FRIDAY: Had our last district meeting with my first ever Romanian district, some of the elders are getting switched around to different places. Literally ate so much food! That night during dinner I taught Sora Sheffield how to roll her R's!!!!! SATURDAY: Watched general conference(in English) at 7:00 pm it was so so good! made me wish I was there watching it in the conference building like i was 6 months ago! ah good memories! SUNDAY: Watched the Saturday afternoon session and then the sunday morning session. we went to go visit the super awesome Stoica family. They are a family of 4 the kids and the mom are members and the kids have gone on missions but the dad isn't a member. So were working with him right now but the hard part about him is he just doesn't have a desire and he's heard the same old missionary lessons for 18 years. but were not giving up on him! This week was hard speaking Romanian, the man who we ordered from at kfc in Buch. told me to stop struggling speaking Romanian HA yolo! And there had been multiple people that we've talked to this week that have spoken English to us and we just try to speak Romanian its kind of awk! HA! One day ill be able to speak and understand this language! Well I hope you all had a fantastic Easter and general conference weekend! This upcoming Sunday is orthodox Easter so i'm super stoked to celebrate that here! In orthodox town!! |
